How does the PRS-801 communicate with your Computer?
Many people wonder if it’s possible to send data to the Prostat PRS-801 Resistance System. The PRS-801 Resistance System communication is “one way” only. It outputs to a spreadsheet – Excel is recommended. There is no communication to the 801 instrument, nor is there a two way function that can be implemented.
- The one-way data transmission is comma delineated to the Prostat “connectivity” software supplied with the instrument and loaded on a user’s computer.
- Data transfer from the Prostat Connect utility software to the spread sheet is similar to an automatic “cut & paste” function
- Up to 80 data points (measurements) can be stored in the instrument’s memory and downloaded in a batch to as many individual cells in a single spreadsheet. The user specifies whether the data is entered into the sheet either vertically or horizontally.
- Transmitting data from the 801 to a computer does not erase the data from the 801 memory; the data can be transmitted several times and to any computer that has the Prostat Connectivity software loaded and open. The user must manually “clear” data from the instrument’s memory.
- An “Auto Connect” function allows the user to make a single measurement, transmit it directly to a spreadsheet cell and automatically move the virtual cursor to the next cell for the next measurement transmission. This is particularly useful for standard measurements that are conducted frequently. Simply construct a spreadsheet formatted template for the measurement set and use it with the Auto Connect function.
